Most of NY’s brownstones were built well over a century ago, which sit inside designated landmark districts, which means the exterior (the façade, stoop, cornice, and roofline) is often protected and cannot be altered without approval. The interior, however, can usually be reconfigured extensively: basements can be dug down, layouts opened up, roofs raised or rebuilt, and foundations underpinned to add a full additional level of usable space.

Troy is present on every job site, in the details, from the first consultation through the final walkthrough. That hands-on involvement is the reason so much of the company’s work has come from referrals, since the company's earliest projects in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
